red/green dot scope

How does the green dot differ from a red dot? As when to use them? Or is a red dot scope just enough?

green is best for night since its more visible and plus red dots are over used. they both do the same thing just different look.

Green isn't always best for night. Green is more visible in daytime than red. That is why.

Is green dot scope only used in airsoft or also in military?

It can be used for anything.
It depends on your eyes if you are comfortable in seeing the green or red dot.

Red is a low energy light so it doesn't carry as well at night, and it also won't kill night vision nearly as bad as green can. This is the reason why military flashlights have a red filter usually, you can still see around you, and your light is far less likely to be noticed.

Ever been in a dark room with a digital clock? Ever notice how much brighter a Green display is vs a Red Display?

I must be colour blind then - because the Red light on my 552 is much easier to see in the day than Green on the same intensity.

I do the exact opposite of what these guys say: Green at night, and Red during the day.

Might be your optics?

Green really is easier to see in bright sunlight.

Red helps preserve your natural night vision.

Could be.

It's from Ebaybanned.com - so I'm sure the quality is the best money can buy ;) . Not that it's bad - it's just definitely not a real EOTech.

green lasers and such are 19 times more powerful than red. also, green is generally used for bright open daylight, and red for night. anyone who says other wise is either personal preference or hasn't actually used one.

Red offers better night use as low red light has the least affect on natural night vision for ones naked eye.

Green offers better day use as red tends to fade into natural sunlight, meaning you have to turn up the brightness alot and this puts a drain on the batteries.

Bottom line, you can use green light day or night with pro's and con's over the Red, buying an RDS that offers both is typically a good idea, but that's not to say all RDS that offer both are the best. Check reviews on individual units, compare to others and make the best quality choice you can afford.
