CA AUG

So yesterday during a skirmish my teammates CA AUG went on the fritz. I've worked on virtually all of my teammates guns, but I can't seem to notice the problem with this one.
At the beginning of the game, it worked just fine, but halfway through a full auto burst, it began to skip. The pistons tension was fully released, the anti reversal intact, yet it could not pull back the piston. I knocked it out of the stock, and tried again(as you can visually see a bit of the sector gear). Upon pulling the trigger, it sounded as if the pinion gear was slipping/skipping on the bevel gear, as the sector gear was not rotating, but simply skaking back and forth.
I took it home after the game and opened it up and everything is as it should be, no missing teeth on any gears, motor and pinion seem fine, motor height adjustment was good.
Any ideas?

and what happened when you adjusted the motor height?

Styrak September 14th, 2008 16:39

Maybe the gears are wore down.

Nothing, it was the same result.
I've inspected the gears and their still in great condition. It was bought new from A&A a week before they closed and has been lightly used.

piston teeth?

Styrak September 14th, 2008 17:21

Yeah I was about to say, stripped piston?

Muffin September 14th, 2008 17:28

Just double checked, its all there, the internals look great as far as I can see.

Styrak September 14th, 2008 17:43

Ship it to me, I'll fix it!

Muffin September 15th, 2008 06:41

Thanks for the offer Styrak, but I'd like to do it myself. I'm just confused as to why its doing this. Once I have more time I'll sit down with it and see if their is anything else I can find.
But if anyone else has any other ideas what the issue may be, please let me know.

Muffin September 16th, 2008 18:43

Anymore ideas of what could cause this?

Tankdude September 16th, 2008 18:58

Double check the teeth on the sector and spur gears. It only takes one to be missing to cause it not to fire.

Muffin September 16th, 2008 23:23

Thankyou Tankdude. Upon closer inspection(I was in a hurry last time) 2 teeth are missing on the sector gear. On the row that is in contact with my spur gear. I'll look into replacing that, I've got a few to spare.
I apologize for my negligance of missing the obvious.

Anyways, instead of starting yet another thread for an AUG. I just myself a NIB JG AUG to use as a rental. I test fired it a bit before letting a new player use it. Upon attemting to fire a few rounds in semi to reset the spring, I noticed that semi was only half working. On the times that it would fire, it worked just fine. Others it sounded as if power was supplied to the motor, but then quickly drawn out. So the motor would give a quick twist, but not even begin the cycle. Full auto works just fine.
Cut off lever problem perhaps?

Styrak September 17th, 2008 03:05

Not holding down the trigger for long enough? Or is that not the case?

Could be an electrical problem, AUG switch mechanisms are a little more complicated than others.

there is a thread over on arnies about this from a user called Pretenda.. I am trying to find it now... sounds very like this issue too, with a JG AUG.

ahh..
