MIAD Grip affecting the motor? Producing higher "rev" volume. Please help.

I have a stock TM SR 16.. I just purchased a MIAD grip from Huang.. I did the installation as instructed.. im getting a lot heat on the grip, a higher "rev" sound.. and it feels like i'm firing a lot hotter too. Am i doing something wrong?

Did you adjust the motor height?

Labo September 14th, 2008 23:21

At the highest setting, it doesnt seem work.. I could hear a minor clicking sound.. I tried adjusting as low as unscrewing the little motor push-screw. and it just goes "Brrraaaaaaam!"

Adjust it to the proper height.

In between the highest and the lower setting there's a sweet spot.

You may have damaged your pinion or bevel gear. Check that and if it's alright then you just need to play with the height. It's too low at the lowest setting for sure and at the highest setting it sounds like it's jamming the bevel gear so the correct motor height is somewhere in there.

It seems like there's a hairline between the two settings.. i've going all the way up makes the trigger lock up. Going all the way down means unscrewing the little push screw. I might have found the sweetspot you're talking about Amos... but after a few shots, the screw physically comes off on its own.. the motor might be loose inside the grip too.. i have to check.

Im hoping the grip is not making the motor go on an angle.. Damn.. I should have kept the old grip.. yeah.. the whirring continues. I dont see any physical damage on the other gear.

Not sure if you still have it but the stock grip sometimes comes with a little metal washer /shim that sits between the motor and the plate. If you had one, make sure it's still in there.

Ohh.. figured it out. I had to loosen the bottom plate a bit.. it was pushing the motor all the way up.. and i also just didn't bother wkth the motor-push screw. Just took it right off!
seems to be running now. Thanks guys.

Oh, he bought a clone grip!

I was thinking "Geeze I didn't have any of these problems with my MIAD"

panda86 September 16th, 2008 16:04

Ditto, my Magpul one seems to work fine with no problems.

Labo September 16th, 2008 16:20

Working fine now.. Im just hoping the shit don't fall off while using it on the field. Amos, Update me on stock... i might end up getting parts off you.

You could put a drop of removable Loctite on the motor plate threads to make sure they stay snug.
