Need Assistance Please
 

Hello to all. I'm new here and already have a problem :banghead: I recently acquired an M15A4 Classic Army by ArmaLite and a friend recommends that it is a good idea to have the gearbox lubricated. However, when I get it back and re-install the unit it appears to be jammed; being a stubborn mule, I keep trying to engage it and now I think I may have messed up the motor too :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: What a start to this adventure! Anyways, given my very imited knowledge as well as experience, can anyone here please recommnd a service center where both of these items (gearbox and motor) can get proper attention. "If it isn't broken and you don't know anything about it, don't fuck with it" is a rule to live by. There's no reason a stock Classic Army gun should need any servicing out of the box.

So how about just going back to the person who did the work and explaining it. It worked when they received it. It should be working when they give it back "repaired".

And you didn't blow your motor. You probably just blew your fuse.

If you want to do it yourself, go to mechbox.com and watch some videos. Armalites are some of the easiest guns to work on.

Wow, Thanx Very Much folk for all of the prompt replies. Just to clarify a few points: The gun was not "brand new" out of the box but very lightly used by a local - I actually live in Montreal. My buddy swears that he re-assembled the gearbox exactly as it was but obviously this can't be accurate since it ain't working like it should. Also, I had no clue whatsoever that the motor is actually fused (where is the fuse?). When I apply power directly to the motor leads sometimes it spurts ever so slightly but most of the time nothing at all. Are there actually service centers here in Quebec since I getting the impression that this hobby is a little taboo.... :cool:

the fuse will be located somewhere between the battery and the mechbox. Just follow the wires from the plug in from your battery back towards the mechbox until you come to a black or clear looking tube. Inside should be the fuse.

good advice so far. Find some one who will take the time to show you proper assembly and disassembly if possible. that is how i learned. i thought i knew how to do the same thing and well, ktown=fail first time. then a local gun doc walked me through it and BAM!, easy as pie. All else fails, i guess your gonna have to do some hard research or pay someone to look at it. Good luck!!:D

Very good info. fellows, so Thanx. Unfortunately, I followed the leads carefully for their entire length and no fuse anywhere..... look slike I may have cooked the motor by forcing it (damn!). Can anyone kindly suggest a local source for guiding me through re-assembly of the gear box properly, and, where can I procure a replacement motor? I look forward to your replies.

Hello again to all. Sorry for the delay in filling out my profile, I had some trouble witht eh system but all is good now. So, what's myt best course of action here since i don't think I'm too comfortable with opening up this gearbox myself especially after I believe that i even blew the motor to boot! Thanx.

Send it to a gun doc. I can't think of any names off the top of my head, but they do exist. Its just gonna cost you shipping it to and back, any nessessary parts and labour.

I guess that a gun doc is probably the best way to goi, but, how do i find a qualified one and where can i buy any parts that are needed for my gun?
