Magpul rail covers

Anyone have any problems with magpuls rail covers? They don't want to fit onto my g&p m4's rails.

Do you mean the multi colored ones?

Dusti69 September 28th, 2008 01:06

im pretty sure he means the ones that fit together almost like some kinda puzzle
i bet hes having trouble with putting them on cuz i dont think they slide on like most rails do. i know when i was putting those segmented rail covers on my 416 and my brothers kirenex they were extremely hard to get on the rail. i had to pound them on with a block of wood and rubber mallet

i dunno if you can but try putting them together and then tapping them down on the rail if they fit together off the rail

Got calipers? I'm willing to bet the rails aren't quite to spec.

Are they rubbery ones? You don't slide them on, you just sorta push em on one side at a time.

Nervikaire September 28th, 2008 19:48

Easy, Just curve the cover by prying it and ''unroll'' while applying pressure. Of course that's if the cover is near or full lenght.

yea the pliable ones usually snap on. i have utg short ones that just snap onto the rail like that

Shrapnel[Op-For] September 29th, 2008 01:20

They are a very hard rubber, they don't bend, the small pieces that attach onto the rail look like they may snap if i push too hard.

Dusti69 September 29th, 2008 01:32

do they have any nubs on the inside of them where the rail would be in them? if so then they cant slide on they have to be pushed or snapped on.
try what i did if theres no nubs. push them down onto the rail til its too hard to by hand anymore. next take a rubber mallet and tap or gently pound them down onto the rail. if you get to the point where the rail cover meets the end of the rail but still needs to go on further take a square block of wood and hold it onto the end of the rail cover but not hitting the rail. then tap or gently pound the block of wood with the mallet til the rail is the rest of the way on
while being careful not to damage your gun. i know it took some muscle to get my rail covers on
