You can't unless you have a Modify V2 anti-reversal latch or ICS V2 mechbox. Both can be released from the outside while standard ones cannot (and thus you have to be very careful when you open them if they've locked up).

even if it aint locked up.....sometimes the main spring still have some travel...and thus everytime i open my meshbox it "pop"s, i tried to shoot a single shot b4 openning it too, wont work still.....it is such a hassle

I use a small allen key that I hook to the latch and pull.

but usually I just let it pop.

???

I release the tension in my G36 mechbox every time I open it.

Once the motor is off, you can use a small flathead screwdriver to get under the latch and lift it, thus allowing the mechbox to unwind.

I use a small 90 degree pick, you can get a pack of 4 diffrent ones in the screwdriver section of canadian tire.

Or....you can just open the mechbox and let it release.

It's not a big deal.

just use a hard wire and bend the tip. it will do the job pretty well.

Needle nose pliers with the angled end work well too, to grasp the latch. I would be wary of sticking a screwdriver down into the internals of my AEG to 'try and get under the latch.'
