Custom Sig 552 mod
 

OK, so I finally broke down and picked up on of those clear Sig 552 from airgunsource, just like the one that ASC member The Cat has been making us drool over. After painting it up, I decided that it was still missing something, so I went for a real unique custom mod.

Now I decided to make up a custom rail mount. I love the way the G36 rail looks, so I thought to emulate it. I made this here from square steel stock and flat bar, with a pair of G36 side rails.

I had to drill and tap a hole in the gun to mount it, but it fits real snug and holds well, pluss ads some real good weight too.

Now I only have one problem. I got some cheap 100-rd mags from UNcompany. They feed like crap, though. BB's always getting stuck. Anyone had and been able to fix this problem? I can't seem to find any threads, so maybe I'm using the wrong search words, I don't know.

There are a few threads about your prob.
Lots of silicon oil is said to fix it, also exercising the spring by loading and unloading a lot (when watching tv or something) will help it along as well. I have yet to get my mags working well enough to game with and I've done both of the above. I think it all depends on the individual mags.

Nice mod by the way. Fix the gap at the front of the carry handle and it'd look super nice. I personally like the streamline of the sig but what you did works.

So you bought a 552 to turn it into a 36c?

Yeah, I like to be different;) Plus, I'm not so keen on how the front of the G36 looks. I prefer my own "hybrid" version.

I figured that by the time I spent the money on a G36 rail and modified it to the way I wanted, I'd be spending just as much on it.this cost me about 4 bucks in steel, 10 for the rail kit, and just the time to put it together.

I fixed my mag feed problem! What relief!

I found some old dry graphite powder lubricant in the cupboard in the garage. Comes in a pen-like tube. Don't know if it is still available in stores, this tube it quite old. Anyway, works like a charm so far.

Hope this helps anyone else with a similar problem.

Beware, if that graphite powder gets on your BB's it could get on your hopup and stick there, and make it not work or less effective. People using graphite coated sniper BB's have that problem and usually wash the graphite off their BB's before using them. Just a warning.

Thanks, Styrak. Know any other kinds of good types of lubricants or something I should use instead? So far it is the only lube that has really fixed the feed problem.
