"Legal" AR-15 Style Gun Importation Method?

I have done some research on this, and I want to know if anyone has tried it before or other people's opinions on this idea.

For starters, I know I am underage (15 at the moment D;), so do not flame me unless I actually deserve it. I have actually spoken to the police, and they say it is OK to have airsoft as long as my parents are OK with it and they are the ones responsible for the guns. I know that airsoft is very fragile in our country, but I am not a total ignorant ass. I myself own a fully coloured JG AUG A2, imported from Shanghai, China when I moved here. It was declared in shipping, I guess I got lucky. It sort of feels like a part of me is missing without airsoft, it has been my passion for years.

I have noticed that Canadian retailers carry a gun called the JG Thunder Maul Dragon in stock, fully coloured. I have emailed the retailers and they have said that it is a full black plastic JG M-4 receiver underneath.

It is apparently legal to import because it is not modeled after an existing firearm, it is based on some kind of futuristic gun from anime =P. I personally think the gun is ugly, but I recently had an idea.

Since the JG Dragon can get through the border because it is not a replica of an existing firearm, doesn't that mean I can get an M-4 or something, perhaps a CA M-15 from the U.S., stick on the JG Dragon Poseidon kit shell and legally bring it back into the country? I have done some research and apparently underneath the shell is a normal M-4 receiver, except with a modified and shortened barrel. As far as i know, barrels are legal to import so I could simply stick on the JG Dragon outer barrel and take the CA barrel with me.

I have heard that some people have gotten some F-2000's over the border because they apparently look like space guns =P. Maybe the same will go for my idea.

Thanks!

You can try that trick with the Thundermaul shell overtop. It depends on the border agent you will be meeting. Since you're underaged and you're trying to get around the rules nobody here will treat you lightly, yes you will get flamed.

As for the FN2000s the custom agents are obviously don't know their guns, because I've had this brought up with the CFO and the verdict was that it does resemble a real gun so therefore its a no. Go google up the FN2000 you'll find that it is a real gun.

pestobanana December 13th, 2008 23:22

I am aware that the FN F2000 is a real gun, I am not a total ignorant ass like you would assume just because of my age. I actually talked to one of the retailers, and I don't know if I should name him for privacy reasons. He said it should be OK because customs does not know that it is an M-4 with a shell on top. My thinking is that if the metal M-4 with a Dragon shell on top is not allowed, then the JG Dragon should not be allowed.

I also do not understand how I am bending ASC rules. I am not breaking any rules on ASC or anything, I am simply asking a question. I know that most underage people on ASC aren't very competent, but does that mean I am one of them? No.

Bowers December 13th, 2008 23:26

first off im not flaming you i hate to break it to you but the police doesent make OUR rules your parents dont make OUR rules the 18+ thing is our communitys rule it sucks believe i was there (and still am actually) do what i eventually did research and research for like a year maybe? then try and make friends with the asc members in your area it helps you a metricboatballoonfuckton

also odds are they will be far more patient with your questions

cheers
bowers

I know the community rules are 18+, but Bowers, you, like me are underage but own fully coloured airsoft right? Shouldn't that make you just as bad as me if I am such a bad person for breaking the rules? Anyways, I am not buying a gun through ASC so I'm not breaking any rules there am I?

dpvu December 13th, 2008 23:32

You're underage AND trying to circumvent Canadian laws which ASC does not endorse or allow discussion of.

pestobanana, you're breaking forum rules by trying to get someone to sell you an airsoft gun through your signature. Remove it immediately.

Sir, if I am trying to circumvent Canadian Law, then aren't 007 and all the other Canadian retailers that carry the JG Dragon doing the same thing? Seriously, I know the responses would be so different if I wasn't honest enough to say I was underage. Can I get at least one response that doesn't in any way bash me for my age?

Whatever, I'll just wait and watch the bashing.

The Saint December 13th, 2008 23:44

I wouldn't call what dpvu said bashing. His points are valid.

Here's that one non-age-related response: you could do what you suggested. We don't advise it, but it could work.

cbcsteve December 13th, 2008 23:45

It's natural for teens to rebel I get it, but to tell you how to break the law is looked down upon, I learned that the hard way and you shall too.

Continue to rebel and you will make it harder on yourself, you might not understand now but when you are 18-25 things will be clear

And if there are no responses by now it means no one has tried it because you are paying for two guns and on top of that you run the risk of it getting seized in which it will be destroyed

Dude just let it go, ASC goes by the rule that if your not 18 then you don't get guns.

all retailers legaly import airsoft with proper licences, therefor they are not sneaking it in! the sell that gun along with others that have legaly been brought in country

If they get it from elsewhere, it's not exactly within our jurisdiction.

pestobanana, we'd appreciate it if you don't try to promote the idea of individuals smuggling guns across the border. For one thing, keep posting that a JG Dragon is just a M4 under the hood makes it a matter of time before CBSA catches on. ;)
