With that tokyo marui silencer in the video, can you see the light from the shooters point of view? That would be pretty fun in night games with "muzzle flash"!

chaosnemesis January 22nd, 2009 21:41

i bought these from evike they're pretty good. Seamless and brighter than the straight brand.

Shipping is a bitch though. 3 bags of 5000 for 60US plus 40 for shipping. still it's about half the cost of most brands.

jesster202 January 22nd, 2009 22:15

shitty their on for 19 dollors right now on evike

wow cool thread there Surebet.
I heard about another brand IIRC one time.. Don't remember tho. If I find it i'll post it.

Flankertanker Made a review on youtube of the TM first GEN of the Tracer Unit.

Found the videos:

I happened to come across this thread and since I'm in the process of gathering all the types of tracers (.20g and up, i.e. excluding the .12g tracers) for a big comparison, I thought I'd register on the forums to add a bit of information to the list.

Just a minor correction, but the link before the .20g Digicon/Straight goes to a .25g tracer. Most of the links I have are links to retailers. A link for .20g Straight/Digicon tracers is http://www.uncompany.com/pageproduct...sp?prodid=2366 and the .25g Digicon/Straight http://www.uncompany.com/pageproduct...sp?prodid=2365. Another minor change/addition would be to indicate that there are two types of .20g tracers from SIIS, a regular (http://www.wgcshop.com/pcart/shopper...2G_srch_tracer) and a high brightness (http://www.cobraairsoft.com/product_...oducts_id=2357). There apparently is a high brightness version of .17g tracers from SIIS also at http://www.tokyo-model.com.hk/ecshop/goods.php?id=1716.

Anyway, onto the additions to the list...
.20g - Matrix/Evike (the one listed by chaosnemesis a few posts back)
.20g - Vanaras (http://www.rsov.com/index.php?target...roduct_id=2736)
.20g - GoldenBall (http://ebaybanned.com/product_info.p...oducts_id=1701)
.20g - TSD (http://www.airsoftsd.com/proddetail.php?prod=BBG20X1M)
.12g - Matrix/Evike (if you're adding .12g tracers to the list too, http://www.airsoftpost.com/airsoft-5...e-p-24113.html)
.12g - Crosman (oddly enough, they don't list the 2000-round bottle on their site but do have a 1000-round bottle listed in a package http://www.crosman.com/airsoft/ammo/SAP4KAP)
.12g - ACM at RSOV (http://www.rsov.com/index.php?target...roduct_id=2819)
.12g - HFC (no direct link, but it's on the page http://www.airsoftatlanta.com/ammo.htm)

Also, maybe not quite related, but there are custom MP5, M4/M16, and AK tracer mags at http://www.mag-man.co.uk/Default.aspx.

Note:
There are two versions of Tokyo Marui 0.20g Tracer BBs - old version and new version.

The differences I've noticed between the two are:

Old version: has a fairly uniform glow around the entire BB, with a subtle dark spot in the area(s) furthest away from the light source.
New version: Has a very focused glow area, located closest to the light source, however, these glowing areas are brighter than what the old version BBs are able to achieve.

Note:

Turn off your Marui Tracer unit when not in use. It will eat through 4 x AAA's literally over night. Brand new Duracell's to boot! There is no standby mode on it as the sensor is always running and seems to draw a lot of power.

Spawn28 January 29th, 2009 17:34

for the price of these im surprised nobody is makin them hmmm think i found a new project!

ILLusion January 29th, 2009 17:35

If you can make something as reliable as Marui's, please do. There have been attempts in the past, but none that I've seen were as reliable.

LUTNIT January 29th, 2009 21:59

I once hooked up about 30 super bright UV LED's to a 9.6V battery pack inside a plastic tube (I hadn't mounted a threaded bit on it yet...)

Well turns out the epoxy I used conducts electricity and it shorted out and melted the plastic tube. I guess when you use "STEEL Epoxy" you should test if it conducts electricity first...

0.25 and lighter....

....And maybe, if I'm really lucky, someone will pick up the project of developing incandescent (tracer) BBs in heavier weights than those available.

Sniping at long range at night could really benefit form this...
...and it'd look so cool. LOL.

FOX_111 January 30th, 2009 18:19

We'd need glowing IR BB that can only be seen trough our IR sniper scope.

Heheh

Sniping with tracers.... fun but not very survivable.

I'm debating between SRC and TM ver2 tracer units.

Any comments or recommendations between the two?
