Need radio help: what to use in a building

Greets,

I've never quite understood radios, so I need your help. I need a few (4-?) to use indoors in a building that has a lot of walls. Right now the cheapo radios don't cut it.

Ideally something with enough puch to go through half a kilometer of walls.

Ideal budget 100-150 per.

Considering UHF Lintons, but would VHF be better?

Thanks!

EDIT: Relays not an option, needs to be self contained.

You should be fine with the lintons. We use them in heavily wooded areas and I've never had an issue with them. I assume it's for airsoft right?
Personally I use the yaesu vx6r (modded for 5 watt) and in an old hospital it was fine. Granted it's about 2-3 times the cost of the lintons.

ymmv but you might have to experiment or read some reviews on an amateur radio site.

Motorolla GMRS. They cost less than 100$, and are better quality than most chineese radio for about the same range.

I have used several "quality" radio, and my little GMRS work the best out of them all.

You might get blasted out of the air by more powerfull radios, but you won't see a difference in range or penetration really.

Myself and several locals use Lintons in the Mill.. works through 4 floors of concrete, brick and wood. Everything comes through nice and clear, $80 shipped each.
