New AEG Kraken won't shoot

I bought my son an Kraken (AK-47 type thing) for the holidays and it recently stopped working. (It's less than a month old.) Now if it were a real AK, I could fix it blindfolded. As it is, I know nothing about these things and can use some experienced help.:banghead: Fortunately, I found you guys.

Symptom: you pull the trigger and nothing happens.

This is what I have done (right or wrong) for trouble shooting:

1) Checked battery with voltmeter (was at rated voltage).
2) Checked fuse and fuse connections (all okay)
3) Pulled motor from handgrip and jumped power directly from battery (it spun freely).
4) Put a little graphite lube into gears
5) Reassembled and tried to fire (the motor turned the gears only so far then could not turn it any more.

It occurs to my inexperienced mind that this could be one of three things:

1) Motor failing (but it’s new!)
2) Battery loosing power to drive gears too quickly
3) An issue with the gears in the gearbox

Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

i dont have a kraken so i cant really tell a whole lot, but what your saying is telling me that there is either a problem with the motor or the gears, i doubt the battery is the problem, even if it did have next to nothing on power it would push the BB out. might be a dumb question, but did you try charging it?

Krakens have tendency of breaking outta the box, it's like winning the lottery finding a perfect one that works fine for life.

You trying on semi auto of full auto? sometimes on my M4 if the piston is all the way back, semi auto will jam and it will do what you said, where it only turns a tiny bit, then stops, and i use full auto to get it moving again.

The battery that come's with the Kraken's have a high fail rate. Alot of peep's don't use it and just get a new one right off the bat.

....should graphite be used on the gears? I thought lithium grease was much more preferable.

Really any grease that's safe to use on plastic & rubber can be used. Just that some grease's proforum better then other's.

Thanks one and all!!! My faith was not misplaced!

I think the problem may be solved thanks to m102404!!!!:):D I'd never have figured that out with my background in kinetic engineering.

After backing the motor off, the gun runs though the gears and my son thinks I'm a hero! (Don't tell him any better..please!)

I think it was that and the battery just plain being a POS as Zone 69 suggested.

Any suggestions where I can find a better battery?

Thanks very much guys!

Now I just need to teach him to keep his eyes off the sights and on the target!

note that kraken use small tamiya connectors
and you probably need a new charger

Here's a better battery im looking at getting myself. http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/catalog/p...3/image/11598/ I wanted to post a link right to the batt but it just wont stick.
Here's a way better charger then that stock brick wall charger and way better for the battery for a long and healthy life. http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/bb-batter...l-charger.html

M102404 is a member on this site, best thing to do is pm Ty and ask him how to fix it.

Good place to go for a charger and battery is your local RC shop if you don't want to shop online, they (for the most part) know what they're talking about and are quite helpful.

Airsoft parts battery pack:

http://www.airsoftparts.ca/store2/in...oducts_id=1590

There are a couple of other options on the site that will fit in a kraken stock, that's just one example.

Make sure the battery has a mini tamiya connector (most mini batteries will)
