panting a clear body
 

Hello all
I have recently bought a JG M4A1 with a clear body. And I feel like giving it a camo pant job to help it blend in. would this be violating some law in Canada.

Go ahead and paint it. As long as you don't use it improperly, it'll be fine.

I painted my JG sig 552 it looks allright

edit: just relised I put "panting" insted of "painting"

Pants work too....dark wash jeans are their favorite :)

But take your time and do light coats - seems to work out fine.

Painting
 

Go to Canadian Tire, they have a good selection of flat cammo paints and you should be able to do a ggod job with them. They dry in minutes and you can do a couple of coats quite fast. It's best to do a light coat when dealing with the plastic and then apply another while it is still a bit tacky to the touch. You can pant between coats but make sure the room is well ventiliated.

I would recommend against doing multiple coats quick. I generally leave mine a whole day before a second coat (maybe over kill). Paint takes a while to cure, and you'll end up with a better result if you really take your time between coats. It will be a stronger layer and should (maybe) be more resilient to scratches. And it looks great.

Panting is not recommended, in my opinion. I tried it once, all that happened was my pants got caught on the rail of the receiver and pulled it off of my desk. Bad idea.

Quick or Fast
 

I've done it both ways and with no obvious difference but I wouldn't do it minutes before fileding it. Those paints were ment to be fast but you could take your time if you want. Don't pant for the full 24 hrs though it will take a toll on your body. There is one other way for the clearsoft and not for the novice which is to take it appart and paint from the inside. It's the best and you won' suffer scratches but you need to know how to put it all back together.

only if you paint both inside and out if you only paint the inside putting the gearbox back in will scratch it and what about mag changes and the shiny clear plastic outside now.
