Iron Sight question.

I would like to remove the front iron sight on my G&G CQB M4. Does the iron sight act as a retainer for the front end? Meaning will the front end come out of place if I do this? Sorry if this is poorly worded, I hope I can get my question across.

Not sure about G&G but look close to the front sight, you should find two small pin hold it together. just use some tool push those pin then it would loose and can be remove.

No it's not act as anything. you can remove.

Cheers !

The iron sight acts as a retainer for the hand grip.

Ah. Indeed what I thought. I'm planning on replacing the iron sight with a flip-up sight, but I have yet to purchase that. Thank you for the clarification!

Yeah what the hell is the gas tube for? And I guess I would have to buy a full floating RIS in order to not run an iron sight of any kind, correct? I just don't care much for the look of iron sights.

Yes, you don't need to put any sight on free floating RAS if you don't want too.

The gas tube is just basically for look. real AR operate on gas tube so airsoft need one too.

The gas tube is purely cosmetic, most if not all iron sights will have a slot for the gastube to insert into.

If you still want the iron sight, but you want a rail system, get a RAS. It couples in between the delta ring and your hand guard retainer.

Unless you're removing it because you want to shorten the barrel down to the length of the handguard, you could just get a low profile gas block (basically the lower half of the front sight, without the triangular sight portion). That'll hold the front cap and gas tube.

Something like:

Or you could get a flip up front sight tower:

Excellent. Thank you very much Drake.

Go with one of the options drake showed you. Those are best for what you want AND no gas block of any sort just looks GHEY! doesn't fit in with the whole airsoft mentality (airsoft being realistic and accurate replicas)

Drake April 16th, 2009 00:25

Ultimately you could also just chop down your current front sight, too:

Your close but thats the second half of how to take off a G&G front sight. Where the sling is attached you will see a roll pin. Punch this out. After that is done take an allen key and unscrew the grub screw(if you don't do this you will scratch your outer barrel taking your front sight off). After that Follow KND's advice. Oh and BTW G&G loves to have those pins fit in tighter than a virgin so your gonna need to give them a good whack.
