What happens when BBs hit the lens on your scope? Is it best to get a scope with a killflash so protects the lens?

absolutely.

Amos used to make pretty good lens protectors, dunno if he still does.

I've never had a scope shot, but a taclight yes.

or you can put a kind of net if front of the lens.... reduces the glare too ;),
