O-Rings inside Magazines?
 

At the game the other day, my 120rnd magpul pmag stopped feeding and I popped it out and looked at the top BB and there was an o-ring wrapped around it. I'm sure there are no o-rings of that size in my magwell or in my G36 as I've built it from scratch and know everything that's inside it. It's too large to be an o-ring from the nozzle or anything that I can think of.

I recall that a teammate of mine once had a PTW mag and found a similar o-ring sitting in the same place inside the feed lip wrapped around a BB. Are there o-rings inside mags? Where did it come from and how do I get it back inside? Is there a chance it came from a speedloader?

Yep, there is always one bb in the loading nozzle due to the o-ring, most if not all speedloaders have an o-ring to stop the last BB from freely falling out of the loader.

So there is an o-ring in the magazine afterall? I am hoping that it's the speedloader since that would be a straightforward fix.

No I meant the loading nozzle of the speedloader lol. There's no o-ring in the mag.

yup, it's probably the O-ring from the speedloader. Sometimes it just budges off on its own. Check the nozzle of your BB loader, there should be a little bit of ditch for the O-ring to sit inside the nozzle, if it's not there, then it came off. Not a big deal though, who cares about the last BB anyway =)

Btw, I have a question, what do you think about the quality of the Magpul Pmag midcaps? Feed all right? fitment all right? what BBs are you using inside the mag?

Hey, the actual Magpul PMAGs are absolutely miles ahead of the STAR 75rd Greenline PMAGs. I've tried both and the STAR ones feel hollow, light, cheap feeling. The plastic on Greenlines is worse than that on the cheapest clone AEGs looking all shiny and lacking crispness in molding. The ABS plastic is also cheap feeling in how brittle/hard it seems. A friend was considering painting the greenlines with some matte grey/black to give it better texture and finish and to get rid of the shiny/oily looking surface.

The Magpul 120rd PMAGs are made of much better material, the same sort of nylon-fibre polymer that higher end AEGs have. Feels sturdier and there's that video of filapino players running them over with a truck and it survived (but I think it was on dirt)...then again there's that hilarious one by Mr. Hitman here on ASC who tried to do it on his concrete driveway and snapped the bottom of the PMAGs off.

I've tried the PMAG is a few guns and with a few the fit is a bit tight. I've heard of people sanding the mag release lever catch hole on the side so they snap in better but overall it's worked in the plastic and metal M4 recievers I've tried and also a G36 magwell (albeit very tightly). It feeds perfectly fine except for the last 7 or so bbs as usual. I notice that the plastic pusher nub that is on top of the spring in the mag seems to be sitting lower than on my other mags. I don't recall if it was like this when new. It would suck if the spring was already compressed a bit since I never leave this mag full for too long. I am thinking of taking the PMAG apart and stretching out the spring so I get more bbs out of it but I've only had it for a month now and only played 2 games with it.

sweet man... Ive been meaning to get those mags for my armalites if I ever do get any haha. I'll check out some youtube videos i guess.

Pmags tend to jam up with Metal Techs... I noticed that with the "larger" brands of BB's they don't like Pmags.

Those 'new" madbull .28's are jamming in my pmags. Interestingly it they load only 65ish into the mag before the spring/follower gets stuck and the mag simply won't want any more bbs put into it. Occasionally the BB' will get caught about 1.5-2 cms from the top of the feed lips (again only with those madbull .28s). I've fully dissassembled all my pmags to clean and check the internals but I'm almost 100% positive it's these BBs.

The old style clear bagged madbull BB load and feed fine, as do KSC, Excel and BBBmax.

The PTS pmags are made from the same dupont polymer as the real pmags. Do a google search on those mags as well, They have had 5 ton trucks run them over, they have been shot, repeatedly thrown/dropped onto concrete surfaces. The material becomes brittle in cold but not at any temperature a typical airsofter will ever be gaming in.

The PTS pmags use a different ranger plate than the greenlines.

Recently had one of those bastard o-rings in a shotgun shell, wondered where the hell it came from. Haven't taken it out, but it's nice to finally know where it came from!
