What needs to be present at your local airsoft field?

Hello,

In the following months, it is possible that I will oversee the creation of an Paintball/Airsoft complex in Montreal, and I have come to people who play a lot to ask what is it that needs to be present at the field? What do you absolutely like or dislike about fields, and in your opinion, what separates good fields from do-not-approach fields?

Go ahead and pour your soul mates, I want to know everything. And everything is important, from preferences, to likes and dislikes, to everything in between.

I'd especially like to know what you would want to see in terms of infrastructures. Try to be realistic, I won't be create a multi-story megaplex here, but still! Whether you rather CQB or field, indoor or outdoors (and why?), if you'd like to see a small store, a cafeteria, and anything that comes to mind.

What was your most memorable place to play in and why? Go ahead, put it all out! I'm gonna take everything into account!

- No paint/regularly cleaned paint. Action Commando is all fine and dandy, but touch anything and you're stained
- BBs on site
- 18+
- Rentals

I really don't like playing at a feild that has paintball paint all over the place it just takes away the feel of being in a real fire fight for me.

That's my main issue right now with regards to implementing both Airsoft and Paintball in one area... I'm not sure how I'm going to figure that out to be honest.

I would suggest

-a water refill station/tap/something.
-In an outhouse/blue rocket/washrooms
-First Aid Kit/Eye wash equipment
-A phone (emerg only)
-A good paper grid map of playing field with paths and features marked

I will 2nd bbs for sale, and the NO PAINT! (The stuff doesn't come off once its dryed...which it usually is by the end of the game and I spot it when getting changed.grrrr.)

Thanks guys, keep it coming!

Defcon paintball in Toronto uses a special kind of paint that dries to a powder in 24hrs, might want to look into that, makes a huge difference

You will not be able to cover rent with only airsof tthough, so at least go for a setup that you can hose down at the end of the week. Fresh paint washes relatively easily, it's the year old crud that kill gear.

People will put up with a lot - if the price is right.

I do not intend on making it airsoft only. In fact, it is going to be primary paintball, with airsoft when things go slow. If you catch my drift.

That's very interesting. Does it actually work or is it crappy?

Very true. But what's your right price, that's a question I'm trying to answer.

water filled paint balls

If you open an airsoft field in Montreal, I will come VERY often !

Seriously, I have been to Action 500 (formerly action commando) and it smells really bad, it's like a mix of old paint+dust that makes the air really irritating and bad. If you could keep your place clean, it would be great.

As people said, Rentals ! It will help you bring new people, BBs, maybe a gundoc that comes once in a while, some basic parts/tools, decent food, water (not a cheap fountain, get something with cold water with those taps to fill out your water bottles quickly) and somewhere reachable by Bus or Metro (important, I don't have a car).

So, try to keep it clean and I hope to see a new field here !

I've thought of it, but the risk of breakage while inside the gun might not help internals if you know what I mean.

Thanks for your input Doombringer, I'll make sure the place doesn't stink ;P

music inside the facility has to be Slayer and not Celine Dion like at Action500.

a place without paint everywhere would be a sweet deal...
