Best BBs for Hi-capa 4.3 (or 5.1)

So I've read a lot of things about what size BB is best for AEGs or other assault type weapons but I haven't heard much about what weight BBs are recommended for GBB. So I want to know what everybody thinks. I currently use 0.25g BB Bastards for the outdoors, and 0.20g BB Bastards for indoors. But I've heard some people say that 0.28g BBs work best with accuracy and range even though FPS decrease.

So what do you think I should use for the indoors, outdoors, and any brand recommendations if possible.

Gas guns aren't affected the same way AEG's are. Use the heaviest BB's you can for your pistol. 0.28 or above.

If you only have 0.25's then use those.

In my opinion
#1 - BB Bastard
#2 - Madbull
#3 - KSC, TSD

madbulls are nice. Don't smell the bag too much though =p; it smells nice but will give you a headache lol.

I find BB bastards work the best in my 4.3
followed by madbulls and then toy jet.

For 0.28g, Bastard or KSC/VelocityArms. Used both brands before, they're about the same in GBBs.

Haven't really had the same success with Madbull 0.28g as I did with the above brands.

were the ones you used match grade or precision grade? I've been wondering what the difference was....

RacingManiac August 17th, 2009 23:37

Bastards .25s only for me....my Hi-Capa don't like Velocity Arms.....need to try heavier ones too...

I can't remember the names, but I can remember the colours!

Green bag (what is now sold at airsoftparts.ca)

~5.95mm

Red/Orange/Blue bag (what airsoftparts.ca used to sell)

~5.98mm These ones worked way better for me, I hope Jugglez gets them back sometime

According to the madbull site they still sell both brands, Not sure why Jugglez switched :(

Precision. The bag I have sitting here says that MB doesn't offer 0.28g in Match, I don't know if that's changed recently.

yuhaoyang August 17th, 2009 23:46

oops XD so it is. My bad lol.
KSC and excel maybe? But a bag of .2 excels I had didn't fit in a 6.03 barrel.

I've shot a butt load of MB's through mine...work fine. BBBastards too.

For balanced accuracy/range I use 0.28's...and that's what I shoot out of my AEGs as well and that's just convenient.

I've found 0.30's to be a bit too slow for fast target shooting...fine for CQB/field use though.

Some places (e.g. TTAC3) require that you use 0.20g BBs for CQB. That's a good thing, since at those ranges it doesn't really matter and at those ranges there's zero benefit in upping the pain levels one iota.

Azathoth August 18th, 2009 10:52

0.3 is too slow for cqb. IMO any of the following if you are doing competition shooting.

BBBMax
Maruzen SGM
Tokyo Marui Superior Grade

For gaming
KSC
Excel

ILLusion August 18th, 2009 14:26

For practice runs, I use Mad Bull (Precision Grade or Match Grade), BB Bastard or KSC Perfect.

But whenever I'm shooting for competition/score/classifications/etc, then I use TM 0.30g Superior Grade or Maruzen 0.29g Super Grand Masters.

Keep in mind, my primary open division pistol I use for CAPS scored runs will output power equivalent to over 400fps with 0.20g BBs when shooting these heavier precision grade BBs.

yuhaoyang August 18th, 2009 16:22

Aren't TM superior grade BBs like 5x the price of the regular ones? O.o

ILLusion August 18th, 2009 18:12

Both TM SG and Maruzen SGM are anything but cheap, but the consistency and concentric sphericity of these BBs can not be beat.
