Hey guys, ive been trying to keep my gun (especially the receiver) and all my accessories free of scratches. Im trying to keep everything as new as possible so im being very careful. I even do all my work on a towel or rag and constantly dust my gun with a brush and wipe off finger print marks or other stains with a towel.

Recently the receiver has tiny scratches and marks and ive been covering them up by airbrushing using Tamiya flat black. I do this carefully by controlling the amount of paint is sprayed and i do this at a very low PSI.

I know im a bit paranoid about keeping my gun scratch/dirt free, but what other ways (less laborious than airbrushing I hope) would u recommend in fixing the scratches? Thanks guys

It will get scratched..deal with it.

BUT if you can't, This is the only way to keep it dust and scratch free.

I believe Aluminum Black could work..

Start PLAYING airsoft with your toys... You wont care about the scratches after a couple games.

Scratches are bound to happen. If not, you're doing something wrong;).

i recall a similar situation where a fire dept was babying the new rescue truck washing consistently and worrying about scratches

if i recall later that day one of the fireground officers went over with his keys and put a nice big gouge on the hood of the truck he than turned to the crew and said "now that its been used maybe you can focus on something important"

Do you plan on gaming your gun? If so, forget about trying to protect it against scratches.

Don't be a panzy and worry about scratches, USE your guns!

good god man, get yourself out to one of the local games and stop worrying about disassembling/upgrading/protecting/coddling your gun, I mean that in the nicest way possible.

Well, i dont plan on gaming it just yet. I might wait for a while until im a bit more free. Im mainly a collector right now and i do indoor target shooting. Ive seen pics of M4's by illusion and mark fingar (google) and im trying to make mine look as nice as theirs.

No one cares what your gun looks like but you.

Everyone who reads this thread will judge you a hard core chairsofter and write you off.

Its ok to be neurotic .. its a mistake to share that information.

worrying about scratches is a waste of time.. as they will happen unless you never use your gun.

If you plan to never use it .. then why have it? it is not an "Object D'Arte" its a fracking toy gun and there are thousands just like it.

You present an image of a boy hiding under his Spiderman comforter at night examining every minute detail of your toy gun with a flashlight.... fiding a scratch and bursting into tears... until you mom comes and rubs your tummy until you calm down and fall to sleep.

... ok that last part was too far...

anyway... get you butt out to a game.. no one is so busy that they can't do it. The first bleeder you get.. you will worry more about scars on you that scratches on your gun.

Toronto fields are not scratch-proof friendly so be prepared for
- Sand, rain and dirt.
- Occasional Dust bunnies if you go to TTAC3

I dropped my Hicapa in the mud once, smelled like a pig
I did a dive in the sand, my Glock became a beach
I crawled, rolled my way through the dirt with spiders and bugs wandering all over my AK

My suggestion is if you are collector/player just have a wall hanger and a beater gun to play with

I once tripped and fell and filled up my AUG flashhider with mud, that was a good time. A quick flashhider removal and dunking and shaking in water cleared that one up.
