Full stock on Carbine GBBR
Hey there
So I have a Magpul PRS for a GBBR coming, but I realized the GBBR has a 6-pos receiver extension tube, instead of the A2 rifle length extension tube. What parts will I need to swap the GBBR over to using the rifle length receiver extension? Obviously I need the receiver extension tube (any recommendations on a good brand?). I am guessing I will also need a lengthened buffer spring. Do they make the different buffer springs for airsoft (carbine vs rifle length), and do real steel buffer springs work? Any help or advice would be great. |
You could use the same buffer spring, you just need to put spacers in behind the spring. To get the buffer inside length the same as the 6 position tube.Measure the two tubes and the difference is the spacer size you'll need.

Alright that is a good idea, thanks.
Anyone have any suggestions for a Receiver extension tube, rifle length? |

Its a WOC. As long as their receivers are real-steel spec, then those should fit. But I bet they would charge me more than the cost of just buying one for a real-steel. I will take a look and see what I can find though.

I'd think G&P makes a M16 stock for WOC....I'd try look for that first.

Well, I've already got the PRS though. I mostly just wanted the mounted utilities (A2 receiver extension/buffer tube, buffer, buffer spring), for mounting a full stock vs. carbine stock onto it.

How is PRS mounted? Does it mount directly over the buffer tube? or does it come with its own buffer tube like UBR? Either way though, RS buffer tube fits, so does WOC buffer tube, and RS UBR installs on WOC....so you should have no problem I'd think...

PRS mounts to A2 style rifle tube, not 6-pos style buffer tube. My WOC comes with a 6-pos buffer tube.
PRELUDE helped me out and explained that I can just use a RS A2 style buffer tube (rifle buffer tube), and the buffer that it comes with. |
Update: bought an A2 buffer tube, rifle buffer, and buffer spring (came with it). I plan to get the 150% buffer spring, and use some spacers to bring it up to the proper length (since AFAIK, they don't have rifle-length buffer/recoil springs for the GBBRs, and the real steel spring is far too stiff).
