Most poppular and most uncommon guns?

I am thinking about advancing past just walmart guns and running around my farm with my friends, but before I purchase a AEG I wanted to know what are the common variants seen on the field.

I assume that everyone and their dog has M4/M16's, but what about G36, HK416, M468, FN SCAR, Bushmaster ACR, and guns like that. How common are they?

Ak's and Mp5's are also very common. G36 are also a very common airsoft guns. Glock and 1911 and Hicappa are Common GBB's

Most of the guys I play with run M4/16 platform guns.

Other popular ones are AK and it's variants.

These have a plethora of internal and external upgrades and everyone and their dog has one so it's not that expensive to get fixed/replacement parts.

The other ones it might be harder to find mags and accessories for however the G36 I believe uses a V3 gearbox (same as AK) so the internals and upgrades will be the exact same.

As for the SCAR I haven't seen many however it's relatively newer and usually more expensive for good quality ones (like VFC). I would like one but the thing is I wouldn't want to drop $800 for one (keep in mind that I'm a student here so $200 is a lot).

this is all true but realize that having a gun a lot of people have has the advantage of having a lot of replacing parts to it, also a lot of customization possible.

Well the SCAR GBBR's just came out, so we may start to see some around.

Theyve been pretty uncommon so far.

Are you looking for something uncommon?

The TAVOR is sweet.

If your goal is to be different than the other guys, and from the way you've worded this I'd guess it is the Bushmaster ACR will be your best bet.

G36 lots thanks to JG
HK416, good supply once again thanks to JG
M468, beyond rare, VFC kit was made that's out of prodcution
FN SCAR, fairly common
Bushmaster ACR rare now but coming available since A&K has just got the greenlight to sell them.

If I was starting up right now with a plan to be a serious player I'd be picking from the GBBR lineup instead of the AEG family.

If you're looking for a base that is less common...
- L85 (actually quite common at times)
- FAL
- Galil
- Tavor
- FAMAS (but they might be uncommon for a reason...ugh)
- P90 (personally...see above comment)
- Dragunov
- RPK
- Thompson

It's boring to have the same as everyone else!

Personally, I'd like to get a Sten gun or an RPK next....

As for pistols, the uncommon ones are either the incredibly overpriced or extremely ugly, or the new ones :)
TM Desert Eagles aren't too common, as well as Five seveNs, everybody and their dog has a glock or a hicapa though,

A fairly uncommon AEG is an AUG, theres still a number of them, but not nearly as many as armalites, and they are compact considering the 509mm barrel length, downside being they dont have a rail system

ujiro October 21st, 2009 17:10

But does everyone have a 7" hicapa...?

The beauty of things like M4s and Hicapas is the customizability. Yes, everyone seems to have one, but they can be done up uniquely very easily. Whereas something like a Desert Eagle or 5-7 (or SCAR, P90, etc) are all the same, always. They cannot be customized in the same way.

Thenooblord October 21st, 2009 17:13

When was the last time you saw two TM 5-7s on the same field?

Yeah, you could line up 10 guys (or 20) with their ARs, and it could very well be that no two of the ten would look alike, such is the adaptability and upgrade/mission-specific options of the AR platform.

The bushmaster ACR is my ultimate goal (for some reason I like the older masada version the best - without the front rails) but I am not age verified yet (debating if it is worth it) so I can't find any of them around.

Is there any of them in the classifieds that would make it worth getting verified?
I also like the G36K with a top rail and not the integrated scope, is it easy to get one of those in the classifieds as well?

Twin#1[Op-for] October 21st, 2009 17:59

What do you have to lose getting verified?

HK416s are nice. They aren't too common (yet) but are making their way into the common list. Upgrading them isn't a hassle like some of the more uncommon-but-not-common rifles out there.

AUGs are quite uncommon. I only know of a few people who have one, and actually use it opposed to having a wallhanger. If you can get one properly kitted and built well, it's a beautiful rifle. Not to mention the low-cap magazines with fake rounds are already in the country, and not for insane prices.

Just a note, I'd avoid the SiG552, or just the SiG (rifle) series all together. There are some affordable upgrades for it, such as a metal handguard set, but there's little to no replacement parts readily available. It's one of those guns you practically need to get two of so you have one to donate small parts like screws and pins in case you break/lose a set. I find it's quite rare to find someone who actually pursues the entire SiG line (including pistols)

M14s are also kind of rare. They're nice, but have a hard time getting into the country I believe (could be wrong, don't quote me on that). They're also really quiet, or at least the few I've heard fire are quite quiet compared to say an M4. Kind of odd, not sure what causes such a sound buffer.

A -good- AK is hard to find. AKs in general are a dime a dozen, but few times have I seen people who pursue an AK, build it durable, playable, and realistic. They're not very expensive to upgrade from my understanding either. Metal bodies are what, like 80 bucks a pop? Most metal bodies are $200 or more. Only situation sometimes is getting an appropriate vest for the mags, which even then, with about 10 extra minutes of your time, you can find a suitable vest and pouches.
