Real Sword - Dragunov SVD - Shooting Test

Hey Guys; Gordo here again. So I just spent a couple hours in the back of my shop where I work, and I was able to recreate the famous "Real Sword toothpick shooting" feat!

YouTube- Real Sword SVD AEG - Shooting Toothpicks from 10M

I think that everyone that has seen this video has wondered if it was real or not. ( I know I did )

As much as I think that the Dragunov SVD is the sexiest sniper riffle ever, these videos are what really convinced me that I had to get one of these Real Sword SVDs.

After much searching, and waiting, and problems with scopes etc, I finally got this thing shooting similar to the guy in the video.

I say similar to is because I wasn't hitting the toothpick one after another like on the video.

It took me between 2 and 5 shots to hit each toothpick, but was able to knock them down from 40'-0" feet away!

I am sure that with a few more adjustments and a bit more experiance shooting, I will be able to recreate this test more closely.

Anyway I was pretty excited about this, so I wanted share it with you.

Huh?

And now for something a little more on-topic... Here's some shots of me prepping my SVD for 11.1 Lipo.

And now I can officially say I have worked on every single type of realsword gun :)

theguy November 30th, 2009 20:56

Whoa... thats a crazy mechbox. Is it full of proprietary parts?

Looks vaguely... 249ish

Amos November 30th, 2009 21:00

Yup, every single part in there is Version T3... but you don't really have to worry about anything breaking lol, I've shot about... 4000 rounds through mine since I got it, I opened it up and it still looks BRAND new on the inside (firing 465FPS in semi only {Semi is much harder on a gun than auto})

I uses 4 gears instead of the normal 3 (it uses a system that has 2 spur gears to increase torque further)

I'm a little amazed they were able to make a system that could cycle a 465 FPS spring with a 7.2v mini cell battery lol

Bleh, I guess if its made well stock, then no worries. I heard somewhere that they are including a bunch of spare parts with the new ones. like 80% of the mechbox components.

Regardless, What an amazing AEG. Too bad Real Sowrd doesn't make any tacticool armalites. I'd be all over that ;)

A little off-topic, but I'd love to see a GBBR SVD. I wonder how many hours of dremeling it would take to get one of the GHK kits into one of these, or an AtoZ springer....

thesin24 November 30th, 2009 22:44

Well actually, there is the G&P SVD, http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwol...l?prodID=20797, but it has no hop up from what i recall

Cilantro November 30th, 2009 22:48

Oh wow, I completely forgot about those G&P ones. Last time I saw even a review was back before I was age verified on Unconventional Airsoft.

Yup, I got a nice little package that had 4 gears and a piston inside it :)

Sorry I haven't had a chance to shoot my SVD much since I posted this thread. Fricken Life is getting in the way of Airsoft again.

I will try to recreate the other two Real Sword shooting demos during the Christmas holidays when my shop will be a little less occupied.

As far as technical questions about the RS - SVD goes, better talk to Amos. I am a bit of a retard when it comes to gun mechanics talk.

I basically put a battery in, load it up with BBs and shoot it. Thats about as technical as I have got with this thing so far.

Then again, come to think of it, if you have ever tried to get a battery into one of these things, it is a bit of a technical challenge in itself. :banghead:

The unmodified realsword is harder. You literally have to take a hammer and a flat point and bash the front retainer off.

once you remove the metal retainer rings on the front of the wooden handguards it becomes very easy :)

you need to understand the background of the RS company... the RS company is based in Hongkong, and their Factory is based in China mainland. the factory was a armory of the Chinese PL Army until the chinese government decided to shut it down, but the factory doesn't want to be close like that so they turned their wheel to airsoft and formed the RS company, the company now also supply their airsoft product to the chinese army and law enforcement for training purpose. so thats why you don't see RS make armalites, because the chinese don't use armalites.

one thing need to be mentioned is , I personally would consider RS product as something between real steel and toy, for they use real steel parts to build their guns, and this is something that even top airsoft manufactors can not compare with.

And to Amos, this is the reason I bought the type 97b from you right away without hesitate.
