Piston help
 

Okay I'm a noob on internal parts so would a metal piston be more durable than a polycarbonate piston but will have a less ROF then a Polycarb?

Yes it may be more durable, but it also may wear your gears down faster depending on what kind of gears you have or what they're made of.

And yes with a heavier piston your cycle speed would slow down.

Okay...I think my gears are made of some sort of metal, possibly aluminum..it's the cansoft ICS.

So what I'm looking for is durability>ROF better to buy a metal toothed piston or just stick with a poly carb and replace them once they're stripped?

If you want durability, go with a non-metal piston.
Replacing a piston is cheaper than replacing a gearset.

Personally I used a CNC'd, ported, aluminum piston. Originally used it with TM gears and it eventually chewed them up.
Now I'm using an Element steel gearset, and that will eventually chew through the aluminum piston. Not anytime soon, but it will.

why replace it if its not broken?

I read somewhere on ASC that the CANSoft ICS guns have a crappy Piston. So i'm getting prepared for when it DOES break. Because I know it will break eventually anyway and better be prepared than sitting on my chair wondering what happened.
