2011 serpa/safariland holster

I lost one of my Hi-capas in the snow last weekend due to failure of a retention strap on one of those "universal" cordura holsters. I want a holster that is made of hard material and has a positive locking system.

What is the real steel comparison to an TM Hi-Capa? I looked for a 2011 serpa/safariland but came up dry. The normal 1911 shape won't fit the integrated rail on the bottom of my 4.3 hi-capa (been there tried that).

Does anyone have any experience with finding a locking-system holster that properly fits these guns?

holsters for a 1911 with a weaponlight mounted should fit I believe

TM hi-capa 4.3 fits into a Glock 17 safariland 6004.

Thats what i use on my hi-capa 4.3

it would need to accomodate the squared trigger guard though..

A pistol lanyard is always a great addition to keep your weapon with you all the time ;)

I have a new hammer spring housing with a lanyard hole on order ;). They don't come with one standard.

Glock 17 already had a squared trigger guard.

My 4.3 fit into my glock 17 safariland 6004 perfectly, no modification needed.

That's awesome, thanks man. I didn't want to drop 70-80 bucks without a testimony, especially if the holster was initially made to fit another model.

No prob, although, I would still go for the lanyard. Its always a good idea, just in case.

EDIT: You say your pistol doesn't have a lanyard loop? Theres one at the base of the grip, on the back end of the magwel :)

Yeah, definately learned the hard way on that one. The stock hi-capas don't have any lanyard attachment points, I was more concerned about the holster depressing the mag release. Totally overlooked the need for a retention lanyard.

FYI, voodoo tactical stuff sucks! Clip broke, and the molle straps worked so loose that you could pull the thing 1/4" off the vest.

Yikes! total bummer!

FYI, its still possible to accidentally release the mag, but not as easy as with a soft holster.

SERPA holster for 2011 will be Weapon light 1911, just get the holster, the light wont fit...most likely

Point_Man January 7th, 2010 12:40

A holster that will fit a 2011 framed STI will work as well. Best to get one with adjustable tension screws if you're going for passive retention.

If you don't mind that its right handed, the Blackhawk SERPA for the Blackhawk Xiphos light system will work, just dont get the light. It'll ignore if you have the square trigger guard

I use a Fobus (haha passive retention only... meh - I keep it tight and it's worked for three days out so far, not to mention countless hours just bumming around with holster/Hi-Capa or 1911 in my room) with a lanyard. Oddly enough, the Fobus works just fine with the Hi-Capa trigger guard. If you've got a railed frame, however, things might be a tighter fit (ahem, KJW KP-06) though this could be seen as a good thing for a holster without a form of active retention. In other words, I totally agree with Pacheko and whomever else mentioned lanyards.

Plus, a Fobus is dirt cheap. :D

PM ILLusion - he may/may not have a stock TM Hi-Capa 4.3 mainspring housing (simple swap, if you know your Hi-Capa well enough) which incorporates that lanyard loop. Failing that, get an aftermarket one (Nine Ball comes to mind - $40 or so from out-of-country), as they have a slightly larger loop. Depending on the type of lanyard you get, and attachments provided, your lanyard may/may not fit in the 4.3 MSH loop - my cheapo eHobby ones don't work quite right, even with the little hooks. I cut up some some small strands of rope and wrapped them with a bit of twist tie to create a temporary solution - it holds a full metal Hi-Capa with mag, with no signs of weakening as is. However, I still feel a little insecure about the ease of which I can untwist the twist tie to free up my Hi-Capa... Perhaps buying a lanyard to match your loop is the best bet - or vice versa.
