Lets play ask the experts!

The question I put forth to this panel is what AEG would you recommend for me.

Things you should know.

- I have a budget of around 1,000 just for the AEG but would like to get my AEG for 600.
- My play style is quick. I like to run and change my position a lot. So I believe I'll need a mid sized semi/full auto. No stubbies or folding stocks please.. I'm not a fan.
- Accuracy is important but not a must for me. I'm no sniper.
- I play mostly outdoors and I hate HATE catching someone in the open and not being able to hit them because of the distance 100 feet or more.
- I plan to use heavy weight anmo. Outdoor play.
- I would prefer if it was ready to play out of the box.
- Simple down or up grading options to change from indoor to out door play (fps limits).
- Large battery so it will last a hole day and many many mags.
- I look for quality, reliability and looks :P

Thank you for your help in advance.

Cheers, Chris

King Arms FAL by far the best AEG I've used in a long time robust, accurate and really do not need any upgrade..........Plus it's different than the rest of the herd (M4, AK's)
http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=77589 or a Galil they are short enough for CQB yet long enough for outdoors http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=71841

New Classic Army M4 should be in or around your price range.

Very solid performer.

Classic Army G36K. I say that because its mid-size like an M4, but robust externally. Internally, i would say its better than the M4 series because it uses a V.3 gearbox as opposed to a V.2 gearbox. If you like using M4 mags, just buy a Magwell adapter for your G36. The gun also has a foldable stock to make it even more compact.

Classic Army M4, VFC M4, Echo 1 Platinum edition with VFC Gear box.

Rock 'N' Roll Outlaw January 19th, 2010 16:35

TM M14, the most accurate and farthest shooting gun Ive handled yet. Fits in your price range, mags and parts are easy to come by and looks fucking SEXY.

Sidenote to all the new players: notice we didn't jump down this guys throat when he asked us a question thats been asked a million times? Read his post and see how his differs from most of the "what gun is best" threads.

400$ for your gear, asside from your AEG won't be enough unless you already have some gear.

You want to play with a lot of mags. Unless you play with 1 or 2 hicap (gay), you will need at least 5 lowcaps and ideally 10. At around 25-30$ if you are lucky, or up to 60$ a mag, you make the addition.

You will need a rig to carry all your stuff. If you go modular, prepair to pay at least 20$/pouche.

60-100$ will go to your ballistic glasses or gogles. 100-150$ to your BDU. 100$+ on your boots.

You can get a good basic kit for 1000$, but I'd go used in order to have a milsim ready kit.

I think some of those prices are a little overkill. low/mid caps can be had for much cheaper then $30 each, unless your buying TM mags. Sure, TM are great, but for a new player, KA, G&P or many other brands are fine. Heck, you can get 8 MAG 120 round midcaps for $40 on ehobbyasia, not the best mags, but they're not bad for starters.

As for gear, you can usually find good deals on package stuff here on the classifieds.

Sorry.. I was a little unclear. I've edited my post to better reflect what I meant to say.

- I'm looking to spend between 600 and 1000 on my AEG.

I looked at the TM M14 but it seems to be a very large rifle. 45 inch long. I lug around the C7 "1 meter" and that as big as I would ever care to go.

The M4 looks to be about what I need, but I'm concerned about he size of batter it will take.

I like the look G36K but I wonder how the folding stock will hold up to the test of time?

Thank you again for your replies, Chris

How about a Bullpup?
AUG,Tavor TAR 21, L85, FAMAS?
Its easy to move with 'em and they're fairly accurate because of there longer barrels.

the Tavor has some issues that should be dealt with first. plus, its like $800

Okay then, why not an TM or CA AUG?

HeadlessChicken January 19th, 2010 20:11

Though I'm not sure about other manufacturers, I haven't hear of any issues concerning CA's folding stock for their G36 prolines. Upgrade options are plentiful though not compared to an M4 platform. I think all of CA's G36s fits a mini type battery in the handguard but using a PEQ battery case works quite well or you can get the G&P sniper style retractable buttstock that fits a custom battery with, I think, 3300mah. And I haven't had issues of my CA36 (full length) snagging on anything.

Downside, G36 mags are pretty thick...roughly 1.5x thicker then standard M4 mags. I found pouches designed for G36 mags are hard to come by, usually designed into a vest and I like running a MOLLE vest with different setups but at least as mentioned above, you can get a magwell converter to use M4 mags. May not be the most realistic if that matters to you or look sexy but its practical.
