Prototype homemade M4 mag.

After deciding whether or not I should buy medium cap or low cap magazines for my M4, I figured why not make some of both and see which I prefer. This afternoon I went to my local art store to buy some plexi-glass, but after seeing the price, I kind of lost hope. I wasn't even sure if the final product would work at all. When I got back home I remembered that I had some sheet metal left over from another project, and thought that it would be fine.

Three hours later, this is what I came up with.

Oh, and I had no thought of asthetics for this prototype, so please don't judge looks untill I finish off a final product. The final product will be a lot more realistic, and hopefully not very noticable that it was made in my basement, because now that I know this works, I will go ahead and buy some plexiglass for future mags(and that is quite a bit easier to work with).

Mag holds 28 bbs.

The mag feeds perfectly, and internals are easy to replace if anything happens.

If you would like pics of any specific part, let me know, and I'll put them up.

Suggestions, comments, questions?

And I apoligize for posting in the Accesories forum, but I figured it is the most acceptable place besides the showcase forums as for some reason I cannot post there(I guess because I am not AVed?)

I know... I made a 203ish with plumbing tubes... just to fire a slug made out of foam and duct tape with an empty KA 168rnd shell...

rokor February 15th, 2010 15:28

Out of curiousity, where can I get M4 mags for 10$? The lowest I've been able to find was about 20 each.

Kos-Mos February 15th, 2010 16:47

ebay
china retailers if you don't pay for the insane shipping

You can get some KingArms 68rnds for about 10$ each...

rokor February 15th, 2010 16:53

Thanks. I never thought of eBay.

The only results I can come up with are hi cap mags. Can you post a link to a reliable mid/low cap seller?

What he said.

Personally, I am going to buy a 5 pack of them directly from Airsoftparts.ca. I calculated that there was 10$ difference between ehobbyasia and airsoftparts, including shipping cost.

Except that from ehobby, it takes 2-3 weeks and might be hit by customs.
From airsoftparts, I have them in 2 days.

Alright, thanks. I was looking into those PMAG mags. Is there any difference between those and the King arms ones, besides durability?
