The plastic for an M249 would have to be REALLY good material, no way to cheap out on that.

M249 AEGs weigh in about 9kg FYI without any extra fancy accessories tacked on.

Even the big guys who wield these know it gets tiring to carry it around all day, plastic body don't really know how that's going to work.
