I used several types of radios, from shitty .5watts FRS to 5 watts "pro" radio.
And honestly, my motorola GMRS is plenty enough for everywhere we usually play.
1 or 2 watt is enough for outdoor field use. If you have trouble hearing or being herd with that, it's because the radio has shitty sensibility.
