If you want to be really picky, this is what I do with V2 mechboxes. Install the hand grip onto the bottom half of the mechbox while it's apart. Now, install the motor and the hand grip motor plate. You'll now be able to see the exact position of the pinon gear in relation to the bevel gear. Adjust the motor screw as required.
Yeah it's time consuming but you're guaranteed a near perfect adjustment the first time.
