So my buddy just got a ICS L85A2 Full Metal AEG and we started test firing our guns. His fired soo far and fast where as mine only went maybe 2/3 the distance (my rate of fire was fine). Same battery.

I'm trying to figure out why mine isn't firing as far. It seems a little short range in general not only when comparing his. I'm using .28 and .25 ammo. Could it be ammo size? Could it be my hop up isn't installed correctly? (I've always wondered if it was).

It kinda sucks that mine is so limited in range and I'd like to know why.

Thanks!
First thing: How much longer inner barrel did you add? An m16 is 509mm. Did you go to 590mm or beyond? An m16 uses a non-ported cylinder to match the 509 mm inner barrel so if you go too much longer at some point you will need a bore-up cylinder and piston to match the volume of air needed for the longer barrel. I’ve never travelled in these waters so I don’t know the exact length where you need to change the cylinder, piston and air nozzle on an M16 beyond 509mm. Perhaps Illusion or one of the others with experience on these longer inner barrels will come along and save me here.

An example of where you don’t need to change is the difference between the M4 and the 733. The M4 uses a 363mm inner barrel and the 733 uses a 300mm and they both use the same cylinder porting.

This could very well explain your lack of distance if these items are not matched correctly. If you decide you need one consider the Modify GU-01-12 Bore kit for the M16.

Edit: I just noticed you said GR16 Carbine, if that is the same as an M4 inner barrel length and you added a longer inner barrel then again how much longer? Is it now 509mm? If so then forget the bore-up and go with a non-ported cylinder (that comes standard on an M16) and bob's your uncle!
