A&K produced it
Magpul threatened them of legal action if they didn't do what they asked.
So A&K sold what was left of their production with an officialy licensed sticker and "trades".
That's pretty much it.
A&K was going to release a RAS handguard, a 18 inch barrel and a PRS-style sniper stock as well as an AK-compatible receiver, but Magpul's intervention pretty much screwed all these plans.
