I wouldn't bother with a NiCad battery, especially a 7.2v NiCad battery. It will work assuming 1) the battery was properly discharged after its last charge/use 2) it has the same plug size as the gun you are buying.

That said, expect slow ROF if you use that battery. Also, make sure you have a discharger so you can properly discharge the battery once you are done using it.

Do yourself a favor, buy a basic Intellect 8.4v battery to use as a backup. It will do what you need with less hassle.
