without a gauage you really cant tell how much you charged it. If you dont get a gauge, my rule is 5 sec charge.
Otherwise like coachster said, just loading the shell in the launcher will cause it to shoot. Trust me from personal experience. Lucky for me it was just testings in my backyard.
