You will also want to remove the barrel group from the receiver before doing all that.
To do so, you have to remove the handguard pin (just like when you install a battery), then remove the 3 screws that go across the receiver and that are hidden by the hanguard.
Then pull forward on the barrel assembly. It will move out about 1/2". You might have to lift/tilt it to completely remove it. DO NOT FORCE ON IT. It goes out fairly easy.
