I've got the remains of two 870 shottys and one M1100. All three have busted shell lifters (loading door in that link you posted).
One of the 870s was bought broken, but I got it for spare parts for the other one. Unfortunately the same part broke in both shottys and on the M1100. Unfortunately the Remington part is missing critical features on the topside of the shell lifter so it's not really compatible. It's also thin sheet metal which would eat the other parts that push on the lever ends because they're soft pot metal. For awhile I was limping along with a patch repaired shell lifter, but I noticed that my shells were occasionally dropping bbs. The loose bbs regularly found their way into the trigger mechanism and jammed it.
It's too bad. There's an awesome feel to jacking in shells and seeing them fly out the side, but this gun is more of a collectors piece than a gaming gun. It's a nice model with interesting actions that happens to be able to shoot pellets for a short period of time.
