A long time ago, I worked for the city and had to clean ice rings during the winter. We where ordered to wear something like this, but with more cleats. I was neat at first but quickly became a pain in the ass. Removing them each time you get off the ice or to go inside as not to wear down the spikes. And once the spikes are worn out, those things are more dangerous than running bare feets on ice.
So most of us never wore spikes in ice and left the damn things in our cars. I only used them at home after an icing rain, to de-ice my stairs.
