It is common to express caliber in imperial measurements, but not required.

First off. No, it is not a measure of a bullets diameter. It is in fact a measure of either the lands or grooves (depending on the convention of that country or area or manufacturer) of the rifling of a barrel. The use of Caliber as a descriptor expressed in MM is a trend and has allowed the word to be interchangeable with diameter (again relative to the lands or grooves) which is acceptable but technically incorrect.

You also fail to understand the physics of firearms and how rifling works and you demonstrate this by comparing a modern firearms barrel to that of a smooth bore airsoft inner barrel. I highly suggest you hit your local library and read a little bit about what actually happens as a bullet is squeezed through the barrel.

Also I've now proved my point three times and I feel that this is getting off topic.

I wish a company would re-release the spectre M4. I loved it when I first saw it in a SOF rag as a kid but the FTC version was never avaliable round here.

Cheers.
