Exactly Biff. POTENTIAL and WILL ONLY SHOOT AT are two different things. That's still hefty, but I agree with nic_s. If you have someone playing with a hot gun, that's fine, just make sure they're keeping safe engagement ranges. Someone who's got a Barrett airsoft gun is likely gonna have the common sense (we're hoping) to know to keep engagement ranges to the maximum. Besides, I would say hotter guns are fine if the player is experienced and knows what the fuck they're doing. I wouldn't let some n00b run around with a 500fps AEG or anything, but hot sniper rifles are fine IMO... In experienced hands. Since a hot assault rifle is not too cool. It's hard to keep engagement ranges out there with one, so you can't ensure safety of players. And I don't think having a wicked hot sniper rifle would even be practical on a small field, but one of the ones I play on is just MASSIVE so it makes sense to allow hotter snipers, or they have minimal range of engagement. Which sucks. And eliminates their purpose.
wow... a lot more than I set out to write... but that's my $0.02
