Besides, the DBoys that the OP was referring to had plastic bushings. Well... I believe they were plastic. They were opaque black coloured (I was the one who assembled this gearbox for Logoris.)

If you don't plan on upgrading the motor, then the higher the torque increase at the gears, the better. I don't think a new motor is necessary, as long as you torque the gears appropriately, since the main power transfer of the drivetrain is at the gears.
