The knock off's do negate some sound, but not as much as the real ones.

But IMO, the Zsordin/element brand ones are junk. Most of my team ran them last year and we all had problems with them. Mine went down after about 3 games, I think from the moisture that accumulates from sweating. The mic was also not working out of the box, and when I checked out what was wrong, it was their piss poor soldering job that fell apart.

I would go with the real deal if you want to make sure you have something that works in 6 months. Not mention they are tits for RS shooting too.

As far as PTT's go, I've seen some guys add an inline amplifiers to match the impedance to a civillian radio, or they swapped their mic for a knock off mic.

For IRENE I borrowed a TCI PTT from a guy and it was by far the best way to go. It has an amp built in to it for impedance matching and a volume switch on the PTT itself so you can turn it down when someone is talking to you while someone else on comms is yelling about something. The only draw back about the TCI is the price.
