I've done the same with a receiver on an MP5. (And will be doing a pistol slide in the next week) I used the Krylon Ultra Flat black, looks great. I did two light coats inside and 4 light coats outside. You have to ensure that each coat is completely dry before doing the next. Light coats, cause if you go heavy you will get runs.

(The two inside were in case of scratches!)
