Actually, I hate having things in my peripheral vision, and I can see past 180 degrees, and I work with a boom-mic headset all day every day at work, I don't mind it at all, you get used to it and get it arrainged on your head right and you don't even know it's there. I would say a throat mic might bother you more being that it's tight around your neck, my cousin despises them, I don't mind them... it's all personal preference, if you've never tried a throat mic, I'd reccomend trying one first before you go out and buy one to find out you hate it.
