Trigger and Selector

Ladies and gentlemen of the forum I have a trigger issue. I am running a G&P M4 with a few upgrades powered by a 7.4v 15C stick Lipo. I purchased the gun used and rewired the gun to a rear battery. It was modified to fire semi only by the previous owner. I believe it was the mod where you cut the selector plate back so that it doesn’t make contact with the cut off lever.

Problem 1
I had to replace a burnt-out trigger switch with this assembly (minus the packaged wiring). While replacing the switch I added an unmodified selector plate. Once reassemble the gun would not fire in auto. Around the same time I ran into an issue where my trigger would be loose when on safe, safe when on semi and semi when on auto. This change was some time ago and I cannot remember if the selector issue happened at the same time.
Answer 1? - I have done some research and this could just be the disc on the selector switch being out of alignment (I will confirm once I break my gun down).

Problem 2
At different intervals of use my trigger goes completely dead. Once this happens it will move when squeezed but the gun doesn’t cycle. If enough pressure is applied there is some friction and then a bump or jerk feeling as the trigger maxes out. After breaking down and reassembling the gear box the gun cycles fine (until failing later). I haven’t been able to determine if the failures are related to number of pulls, rounds fired, trigger pull technique or other factors. I have had the issue with the 7.4v 15c lipo and a front wired 11.1v 20c batteries. The piston does not appear to be locked back and when I open the piston doesn’t fly forward. I was wondering if this is simply semi lock. If it is semi lock I should be able to remedy the issue with a burst in auto correct (assuming problem 1 is fixed).
