It's not really about thickness, it's about flatness. If you tighten the carbon plate on a rounded surface, it will crack. Carbon fiber acts a lot like glass under stress... it will be very sturdy up to the point when it breaks suddenly.

If the TK grip is a lot wider (I recall it is slimmer that the stock grip but it's been a while), you might have to shim or sand the bushing to assure good alignment.
