Because the piston head is held in place by a screw, and they occasionally DO come loose. Loc-Tite helps keep it in place. Do what Illusion said and don't fire it til it's been looked at. You could screw your gears and other parts BAD!!!!! I recall reading a tech article that outlined what happens when the piston head unscrews. I'll go find it and post it when I do.
