I've molested a TM MP7 already... it has the following pros over the KSC/KWA version that I immediately noticed:
- Industry leading Marui GBB hop up rubber & inner barrel design = Massive aftermarket compatibility, improved durability (the KWA one uses crappy plastic threads that strip), improved accuracy, and consistency that is second to none.
- Harder kicking blowback due to a more realistic full length bolt carrier group. Larger mass = bigger kick, and ROF stays solid through the entire mag. No real noticeable cooldown, even in a full auto dump.
- Controls are much more solid. Select fire detents have a very solid and reassuring *click*, when compared to the KSC/KWA version which feels mushy in comparison. There have been more than a few times where I went in to clear a room, and accidentally flicked the fire selector on my KSC to full auto accidentally.
- Build quality of the body on the Marui version is miles ahead of the KSC version. Granted, the KSC version is already nice... but until you see the Marui version, you won't know how much better it is. The finish is more matte, the build feels more solid, and the plastic overall feels more dense than the KSC version. Also, the markings on the Marui version is much more distinct and crisp, versus the KSC version.
- Three position sliding stock, versus the KSC/KWA stock which only has one position (full extension.) Granted, the user can mod the stock by cutting detents in... NavSpecWar style!
Pros of the VFC version that I have noticed over the Marui and KSC version (based only on internet videos):
- More realistic length. The KSC and Marui version is about 2cm shorter than the real thing. No idea why this decision was made by KSC, and why Marui copied this decision.
- Harder kicking blowback. The Marui version already has hard kicking blowback. The VFC one looks to be even stronger, based on video.
- Realistic bolt release lever - the KSC and Marui version releases the bolt with an upward movement, whereas a real one uses a downward movement. The VFC MP7 replicates the proper direction of bolt release
This WE release looks interesting, as it's bringing a new player to the market, but it looks like licensing restrictions will limit it's appeal. It's pretty obvious from the prototype design what gun it's trying to replicate. It's still too early to say how it performs compared to the other releases, as is the VFC, but the VFC does currently look to be further along than the WE. The VFC model also looks like it has the hardest kicking blowback of the bunch. The biggest selling point that I'll predict with the WE product, is its price point which I'm sure will bring massive bang for the buck... as long as you don't need a realistic look.
On a side note, the KSC version can be upgraded to have hard kicking blowback. I have a steel heavy weight bolt carrier group in mine, along with enhanced recoil springs. It definitely improves the overall feel of the gun.
