The trigger mech on them is a little bit tempermental but after a little practice you can get it set every time, if it is not going off with the remote you didnt set the trigger up properly in my experiance.
For the remote to work you need to have it set so it is on a hair trigger and the remote doesnt have that great of a range. I found fishing line tripwire/pullwires worked best as with the remote you have to be there to spot the person coming into range or have someone else tell you when to detonate.
They are also very limited in effective use as they have a fairly short range, you need a bottleneck or a area where ppl are definatly going to want to go, tying fishing line to the flag, bomb, or case proves most effective as ppl weren't looking for the claymore they were tunnel visioned on the object and got a BB shower when they grabbed it (especailly when they are under fire and rushing).
The main biggest problem I had with the claymores is the abuse from other players, if you set up a tripwire it will get yanked/bounced around when they engage the tripline, which is completely understandable. My issue and the reason I stopped bringing mine out was when I had set it up a player (who was wearing full multicam and wearing his team's patch on his arm) saw it, ran straight for it and tried to punt it (like a football on a stand fieldgoal style) across the field.
If it gets kicked or knocked around accedentally or as a result of being tripped it is understandable but this blatant disgregard for other peoples property and obvious attempt to BREAK the item convinced me to stop using them (at least at any open games).
