"You can keep any replica firearms that you owned on December 1, 1998, when the Firearms Act came into effect. You are not required to get a firearms licence nor are you required to register your replicas."
That sure doesn't sound like an outright ban to me. As for displaying replicas, follow the CFC's advice found on this page:

"The regulations do not set any rules for storing or displaying replicas of antique firearms, or for displaying replicas of non-antique firearms. When storing replicas of non-antique firearms, follow the standards for storing a prohibited device."
