Showing off (your words) with a Replica is a guaranteed way to land your ass in jail. No, not a flame, just the truth. Again, there were HUGE problems with airsoft in the province of Quebec less than 10 years ago. They are not seen with kindness by the Police Provinciale.
If you screw up, not only do you get yourself in trouble, but you cause problems for everyone else. Not very fair, is it?
A deactivated gun, if seen by anyone, will be perceived as 'real' and the result is pretty much the same. The only place I know if who does deactivations is Marstar, and even then it's only from time to time. Those things are not cheap either.
Want to know what's nuts? You are 100% right about something; using real guns is less trouble.
