There is a theory that CA internals in general are somewhat tougher than say, TM's, and thus more able to support the increased ROF generated by a 9.6v. It is supported by some facts, but I haven't seen any real extensive studies on the issue. Also, before the advent and spread of Intellect cells, certain 8.4v minis were found to be very poor performers when used in CA guns due to the M100 spring, hence something of an existing preference for 9.6v among some CA users.
