The M15 series manual claims you can put a 12V battery into the gun, though that was likely intended for people with 500 fps springs and such. A 9.6V battery isn't going to accellerate wear on your internals versus an 8.4V any appreciable amount, though you'll find yourself going through BBs more quickly and your rate of fire will be well above average for a gun of this type. Remember Manitoba is Milsim Central so bullet hoses are frowned upon. I run a 7.2V large battery in my M15A4 Tac Carbine and get an excellent rate of fire but with a stock spring.

If you're planning to upgrade to a stronger spring a 9.6V would be a decent investment now, but with stock internals it's not necessary. The Intellect 8.4V 1400 will carry you a long way for the time being.
